Tracing the provenance

Knowing where a product originates and the story behind it creates connection. Our story is not your everyday story. Our timber is not from your standard source.

We know consumers are becoming more aware and interested in the provenance of products they purchase. So, we’re really excited about launching our exclusive QR traceability portal.

The ReCoil collaboration provided the perfect opportunity to launch this new technology on an international scale. It’s a game changer.

The cutting-edge block-chain technology takes you to a portal that confirms the timber is authentic and ethically sourced from Lake Pieman. Co-funded by the Tasmanian Government’s Department of State Growth we feel this gives consumers peace of mind.

Place-of-origin can be a valuable asset for Tasmanian businesses looking to sell their premium products internationally, given our reputation for quality, and it’s an asset worth protecting.
— Guy Barnett MP Minister for Trade, Tasmanian Government

The portal not only confirms that the timber is authentic, it links you to a site containing the unique Hydrowood story. It’s important to us to provide a deeper insight into the product being purchased – to show the point of difference and what makes Hydrowood special.

Through videos, animation and stories we share our journey with you.

We take you to the dark deep lake from which we source the timber. We demonstrate the engineering feats to get the trees out from Lake Piemen. We share the drying process before revealing the leading architectural and design products that use Hydrowood.

Come and explore. Simply scan your phone camera over the code and it will take you to our portal site.

Stay tuned for more stories of clever collaborations and ingenious designs using Hydrowood in our blog, eDM and Socials.
